Join us on Sunday 24th January for an evening of short films. We will be screening two short films followed by a chat with the directors.
Feel free to arrive from 6pm, screening starts at 6.30pm
OVER MY DEAD BODY, written and directed by James Carney & James King – 32min.
Two talentless screenwriters, forced to share a cramped, sweaty, studio lot writer’s room, race for a deadline, stopping at nothing to outdo each other – even if it means MURDER!
James King currently works in theatrical sales for Artificial Eye. James Carney is a freelance actor and video editor. Together (as Scaffold Films) they have written scripts for TV and short film – their sit-com pilot “Intelligent Life” was shortlisted by the BBC Writer’s room, and they are currently working on a feature film script – “The Lab”. “Over My Dead Body!” is making its way to festivals, and Vault Festival will screen it next month in Waterloo as the closing film of their new Film Festival, programmed by TheNewCurrent.com.
THE SOLAR SYSTEM, writtend and directed by Flavia Casà – 20min.
After Pia can no longer dance due to her impending illness, she and her loving husband Sebastian decide to leave the city and move to a secluded home in Montauk, where they contemplate Pia’s final days in the midst of a beautiful landscape.
Flavia Casà was born in Paris and grew up in New York City, where she graduated from NYU’s film school, and worked on film sets for Noah Baumbach and Alejandro G. Iñáritu. Through her diverse cultural background, Flavia explores themes of memory, displacement, and fragility. She is currently developing her first feature film, Daydreams.
