Join us for the opening of Photographic Exhibition by David Hoffman on 14th July at 8pm.
Working independently as a photographer and specialising in social issues since the 1970s, Hoffman focused on documenting the increasingly overt control that the state exerts on our lives. Racial and social conflict, policing, homelessness, drugs, poverty and social exclusion, plus the inevitable and sometimes violent outbreaks of connected protest make up most of my work.
Editorial photography is a beleaguered profession facing challenges on many fronts, notably around press freedom and policing, copyright and intellectual property. As a founding member of Editorial Photographers UK, the NUJ London Photographers’ Branch and Photo-Forum London, and vice chairman of the British Photographic Council, Hoffman is now working on the frontline with others trying to maintain a sustainable ecology for the professional photography of the future.
Exhibition runs 15th July – 7th September 2016.
