An evening of a fusion of Celtic sounds from Selkie…
8pm, free entry
Born out of cinematic soundtracks, the music of Selkie creates a unique fusion of Celtic sounds, rock elements and employs influences of folk music from all over the world. With lyrics inspired from Irish folklore to brexit and delivered in many languages, there is something for both music and story lovers alike in this euphony of original music.
Selkie was formed in 2018 by singer Angelina Luzi and composer/instrumentalist Alex Paton after Angelina pointed out that many of Alex’s works written as soundtracks for theatre, film and dance had an underlying Celtic sound that could work well with a band. Several months later after much composing, re arranging, re orchestrating and lyric writing, Selkie was born as a five piece band. This included the additions of Italian guitar and bass player Alessandro Gugel, Italian drummer and percussionist Matteo Ricordo and English violin player Mary O’Conner, all bringing their unique personalities and skills to this eclectic group. The group will be entering the studio in 2019.
